Considered to be the outstanding figure in Ontario soccer from 1903 until his retirement from the game in 1928 and the greatest right back in Canadian soccer history. Played in the Scottish junior league with the Renfrew Victorias before he came to Canada. Won the Ontario Cup with Thistle in 1906, 1907, 1908 and 1909, and with Scottish in 1918, 1921 and 1922. Also won a Dominion championship medal in 1921 when Scottish beat the Vancouver Island club Ladysmith in the final. Played right back for Canada against the United States in Montreal in 1925. Played for Toronto Scottish against the Corinthians in 1906 and again in 1911 when Toronto upset that famous club by winning 31 at the Rosedale Athletic Grounds. He represented Ontario against the Corinthians in 1911 and Scotland in 1921. On Sept 29, 1928 Ulster played Scottish in a benefit game for him. Donor of the Campbell Cup one of the premier trophies of the Toronto and District League for many years. Finished second in the voting for Canadian Player of the Half Century in 1950.
