Born: St. Lawrence, Newfoundland in 1924.
He began his playing career in 1945 and was an all-star calibre full back with the Burin and St. Lawrence teams. The high level of leadership he always displayed on the pitch continued when he moved into executive and leadership positions for the administration of soccer. He was elected President of the Burin Peninsula Athletic Association in 1959 and served as President of soccer in the City of St. John's from 1964 to 1968. He went on to become President of the Newfoundland and Labrador Soccer Association from 1966 to 1971 and Canadian Soccer Association Vice-President from 1970 to 1973. He has been inducted into the Newfoundland and Labrador Sports Hall of Fame, the Newfoundland and Labrador Soccer Hall of Fame and the Burin Peninsula, St. Lawrence and St. John's Soccer Halls of Fame.
