Georges Schwartz - Born Paris, France in 1929. Came to Montreal in 1951. Played in the French amateur leagues and then in the Quebec National Soccer League when he came to Canada. Long time administrator in Quebec soccer and a member of the FIFA Amateur Committee from 1973 to 1976. President of the Quebec Soccer Association 1971-72, and a vice president of the Canadian Soccer Association from 1972 to 1975 and from 1981 to 1983. First to initiate a World Cup bid outside of Europe and Latin America, he was chairman of the Canadian World Cup bid committee from 1977 to 1983. Georges also had a career in television and was the colour commentator for Radio Canada and RDS from 1961 to 1994 including the 1976 Olympic Games in Montreal. A part time journalist since 1959 and editorialist for Quebec Soccer magazine winning several awards. Author of Le Soccer 1973 and Histoire du Soccer Quebecois, the history of soccer in Quebec, published in 2003 and co-author of the Official Olympic Report of 1976 and of Sports et Geopolitique in 2001. Georges was presented with the CSA Award of Merit in 1995 and was inducted into Quebec's Soccer Hall of Fame in 1999.
