Our Soccer History

Mystery Team

Canada has a much longer history with the game of Soccer than many realise. In the fall of 1863, the rules of Association Football were formalised in a series of meetings held between the bright lights of the soccer world at the Freemason's Tavern in London, England. The Dominion Football Association was founded not long after, in 1878, showing a desire within Canada to adopt and adhere to the rules laid down by the Football Association in England.

This section of our site contains the early, and some more recent histories, of soccer in the provinces of Canada from the Pacific to the Atlantic, via the Prairies, Eastern Canada, and the Maritimes.
