Ken Pears Inducted as a Player Inducted in 2000 | Born: Vancouver, B.C., April 12, 1934. Clubs: Capilanos, Vancouver Halecos. The top goalkeeper in Canada in the 1950s and early 1960s, he made six appearances for the British Columbia All Stars and shut out English First Division club Tottenham Hotspur 2-0 at Empire Stadium in 1957. Had ten shutouts in helping Capilanos win the Imperial and Provincial Cups and the Mainland League's first division title. Won a Canadian championship medal with Halecos in 1956. Canada's first World Cup goalkeeper in 1957 appearing in all four games. Inducted into the British Columbia Sports Hall of Fame in 1986. |
